Summer in the GTA — Where to Be

Toronto and the surrounding GTA municipalities pull out all the stops in the summer. Festivals, markets, outdoor concerts, and community celebrations fill every weekend from June through September. Here are our picks for the season.

1. Toronto Ribfest

Etobicoke, June

One of the largest BBQ festivals in Canada. Free admission, multiple categories of competition BBQ, and live entertainment. Perfect for families.

2. Mississauga Waterfront Festival

Port Credit, June

Three days of outdoor concerts, artisan markets, and food vendors along the Lake Ontario waterfront. One of the most scenic festival settings in the region.

3. Taste of the Danforth

Greektown, August

The largest street festival in Canada with 1.5 million visitors. Incredible food from dozens of vendors, plus live music across multiple stages.

4. Brampton Farmers' Market

Downtown Brampton, weekly June–October

Fresh local produce, baked goods, and artisan crafts every Saturday morning. A staple of the Brampton community calendar.

5. Markham Village Music Festival

Markham, July

Free outdoor music festival over two days featuring dozens of bands across multiple stages in the heart of historic Markham Village.

6. Burlington Sound of Music Festival

Burlington, June

Nine days of free outdoor concerts featuring over 150 acts. Combines music with waterfront dining and family activities.

7. Vaughan Outdoor Art Show

Vaughan, July

8. Richmond Hill Canada Day Celebration

Richmond Hill, July 1

9. Pickering Artfest
